New ICT systems require design of (formal) models of alternative system views. We have extensive experience in these modeling techniques. While necessary during implementation, these do not necessarily address the needs of the initial stage of process innovations when concepts and visions are being developed. Here we need careful use of language (natural language as well as conceptual representations), engaging the client in the analysis process, understanding and resolving multiple viewpoints, and simplification to let the process owner connect to the outcome.
